Play Synopsis
The Odd Couple, (Female Version) is set in a disheveled New York City apartment, where the main characters, Olive Madison and Florence Unger, navigate their contrasting personalities.
Olive, a laid-back sportswriter, invites her neurotic and obsessively tidy friend Florence to move in after her marriage ends.
The central conflict arises from their opposing lifestyles: Olive’s carefree messiness clashes with Florence’s compulsive cleanliness, leading to comedic tension.
As they attempt to coexist, their friendship is tested further during a disastrous double date with the Costazuela brothers, highlighting the chaos of their mismatched lives.
Director’s Note
Dear Theater Goers,
During my seven years in Vietnam, I have attempted to produce theatrical performances at least three times in the city.
None of them made it to fruition due to COVID-19. Mostly, and still, the words I’ve told myself still echo in my being – nothing before its time.
With this said, directing Neil Simon’s, The Odd Couple has been a great honor for me.
Leading the Imaginarium theater makers through this artistic endeavor has been filled with endless laughter at times and bewilderment at others.
And finally, I wish for us all – supporters, company members, and audience alike, to benefit significantly from Imaginarium’s delivery of laughter and fun!
On behalf of the Imaginarium management team, I thank you all for being a part of our journey.
Together, let’s celebrate the joy of theater!
